Calendar of Classes and Shows:
Build a Better Bezel
Sunday, March 12th, 1:30p – 4:30p
Loose Bead Society Retreat
Doubletree by Hilton – Racine Harbourwalk Hotel
Click here for all the details
Note: This class is only available for Retreat attendees. You should come – it’s lots of fun!
You bought a Lunasoft cab, etched metal disc, fused glass cab, or polymer clay cab, but how do you turn it into a pendant? Learn a new, quick bezel technique using adorable, two-holed Super8 beads. This technique can easily be adjusted to work with several sizes and shapes of components. Add a scalloped bail and maybe some loops or fringe, and you’ll be wearing your new pendant in no time!
Art Glass and Bead Show
Saturday, March 25th, 10:00a – 5:00p
Sunday, March 26th, 10:00a – 4:00p
Alliant Energy Center
1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, Madison, Wisconsin
My bead show schedule for the year always starts with the Art Glass and Bead Show! I’m one of the instructors for the Make-n-Take on Friday night, and I’ll be vending all weekend. I’ll have tutorials and kits for my jewelry designs as well as a number of Xuron tools. Are you looking for a specific Xuron tool? E-mail me at email@example.com to see if it’s in my stock. If it isn’t, I’ll do my best to get one for you before the Show!
The design I’m most excited to unveil is my Build a Better Bezel (see the class above). I’ll have kits featuring Lunasoft cabs, metal discs, and gemstones. Ruby Dragon Designs will be next to me, and several of April’s fused glass cabs can be bezeled with the same technique! You can get a cab from her as well as the instructions and a list of materials, and I’ll have some mini kits (beads only – no component) that may match your cab. If none of them do, or if you’d like to get your own supplies, we’ll happily point you to where you can go.
Here’s a sample of a Better-Built Bezel with one of April’s fused glass cabs:
Thursday, June 8th, 4:00p – 8:00p (preview shopping for badge holders)
Friday, June 9th, 10:00a – 7:00p
Saturday, June 10th, 10:00a – 6:00p
Sunday, June 11th, 10:00a – 4:00p
400 West Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
This will be my second time vending at the Bead&Button Show! I’ll be in the “Artisan Pavilion” (more information on where that will be in the Marketplace once I know) again and next to Ruby Dragon Designs again! The Artisan section is a cozy group of wonderful vendors with quite a variety of offerings – please seek it out when shopping the Marketplace. April from Ruby Dragon Designs and I will be teaming up again on my Build a Better Bezel technique (see above).
I’ll have tutorials and kits for my jewelry designs as well as a number of Xuron tools. Are you looking for a specific Xuron tool? E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if it’s in my stock. If it isn’t, I’ll do my best to get one for you before the Show!
While you’re contemplating the Bead&Button Show, please check out April Machan’s class, Stars and Diamonds, pictured above. The class is held on Sunday, June 4th from 6:00p to 9:00p. I’ll let her tell you about it: “Create this bracelet using beautiful Swarovski double hole square beads along with 3 mm bicones in a two-strand treasure. If you’re looking for a star-quality project without a lot of time invested, this class is for you.” The thing I love about this technique is that the little doodads between the Swarovski square beads can be used in lots of different ways for necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. And April is the nicest, sweetest person you’ll ever meet (even nicer and sweeter than I am, if you can believe that!), and she’s a wonderful teacher.
